wavework: birth rehearsal method
most birth education stays in the brain.
wavework lives in the body.
if you’ve read the books, followed the accounts, and still feel unprepared it’s because your nervous system hasn’t had the chance to practice remembering birth.
wavework is where that practice begins.
a training ground where movement, rhythm, and simulation condition your body for what is coming so you can remember what your body already knows, instead of memorizing steps.
wavework™ is a living system designed for anyone preparing to meet the intensity of birth, cycles, or supporting others through it.
this portal is for you if you are:
+ pregnant → preparing your body, mind, and nervous system to meet labor with rhythm and trust.
+ preconception → building physiological + emotional readiness long before pregnancy begins.
+ postpartum → restoring connection, strength, and nervous system regulation after birth.
+ walking through pregnancy loss → using breath, movement, and embodied practice to recover from trauma and return to trust in your body.
+ a birthworker or practitioner → expanding your toolkit with the biomechanics, nervous system strategies, and altered-state practices that help you support women more deeply.
wavework™ is not about consuming more information. it’s about remembering through practice no matter what threshold you are meeting.

your guide
karissa is a birth worker, physiologist, and somatic guide who trains women to remember what their bodies already know.
her work lives at the intersection of breath, biomechanics, and nervous system rhythm, a reclamation of birth as something we rehearse, not just read about.
she’s spent over a decade studying the female body through science, movement, and hands-on support. but her true method was forged inside the birth room: in the contractions, in the pressure waves, in the women who froze, softened, rose.
karissa created wavework to fill the gap most birth prep leaves behind:
⟁ how to stay inside your body when labor begins
⟁ how to work with sensation instead of against it
⟁ how to train for the altered state of birth long before it arrives
she’s supported hundreds of women across the world through birth, postpartum, and cyclical healing. her mission is to bridge physiology and intuition so that women don’t just understand birth
they become it.

inside wavework: your full
birth rehearsal journey
wavework™ is a practice to be embodied, not more information to consume.
the portal is built as a spiral: orientation, embodied waves, full simulation, integration.
you’ll receive video immersions, guided audios, and printables that drop straight into your body and nervous system.
inside wavework your not “learning about labor.” it’s about entraining your system to remember how to meet it.
when the portal opens, you’ll return to what your body has rehearsed.
orientation: the labor simulation blueprint
orientation + nervous system anchoring
safety is the first signal your nervous system must receive before it can yield. here we orient to rhythm, establish physiological trust, and prepare the ground for the waves ahead.
includes:
– 60-min foundational video
– nervous system priming practices
wave 1: physical body attunement
biomechanics, breath, and pressure regulation
labor is pressure. in this wave you train fascia, core, and pelvic floor to conduct force instead of resist it. biomechanics, TVA activation, and breath-driven mobility create strength with softness; structure with surrender.
includes:
– prenatal movement video classes
– TVA + pelvic floor integration tutorial
– biomechanics for birth on-demand
wave 2: emotional cathexis
fear alchemization + emotional portals
your cervix will not yield if your nervous system feels unsafe. this wave teaches you to locate fear, anger, grief, and joy in the body; metabolizing each into power.
includes:
– emotional alchemy guidance
– fear integration journaling
– on-demand cathexis video class
wave 3: consciousness shift training
altered states + 'the push breath'
birth is trance, and trance must be rehearsed. in this wave you train your brain to drop into theta/delta with breath, sound, and visualization; the same states that dissolve fear, amplify oxytocin, and open the cervix.
includes:
– brainwave training audio
– visualization + entrainment practices
wave 4: primal instinct activation
rhythm, ritual, relaxation ~ the 3 r’s
without rhythm, the body stalls. with rhythm, it surrenders. in this wave you condition your system to ride contractions like a metronome: rhythm as nervous system language, ritual as safety anchor, relaxation as yield.
includes:
– positional rhythm practice
– ritual + recovery drills
– 3R’s embodiment protocol
wavework: the rehearsal
the rehearsal itself
this is where training becomes ceremony. you’ll move through the full arc of labor in real time: contractions, holds, push breath, recovery. you’ll condition your system to stay inside intensity — to ride the rhythm until it becomes instinct.
includes:
– guided live + DIY simulation protocols (early + active arcs)
– post-simulation integration template
bonus modules
+ the shared nervous system
fieldwork and guide for partners + birthworkers: labor doesn’t happen in isolation. this module teaches how nervous systems co-regulate in the birth space. partners + doulas learn to hold frequency, mirror rhythm, and protect trance.
+ postpartum integration (coming soon)
the fourth trimester + nervous system repair: birth doesn’t end at crowning. this upcoming module will guide you through postpartum recovery: rebalancing fascia, restoring breath + pelvic floor function, and regulating the nervous system after the intensity of labor. designed to support both physical healing and emotional integration.

wavework testimonials
"i’ve taken other birth prep courses, but nothing felt as real as wavework. practicing the full integration of breath, movement, and nervous system conditioning made me feel like i had already experienced labor before it even began. when my contractions started, my body just knew what to do. i wasn’t panicked. i wasn’t resisting. i was fully in it, fully prepared. karissa’s approach is unlike anything else, she doesn’t just teach birth prep, she helps you embody it. this method is birth preparation the way it was meant to be."
— sarah t.
"before this, i thought birth was something i had to just get through. i had no idea i could actually train my body to move with it instead of against it. wavework completely changed my mindset and my confidence going into labor. karissa made me realize that birth isn’t about learning something new. i felt strong, intuitive, and deeply connected to my body. and when it was time, everything i had practiced kicked in naturally like i had been here before. every woman needs this."

faqs
when should i start wavework™?
as soon as possible. the earlier you begin, the more your nervous system can integrate this work, but it’s never too late or too early. women have started at 10 weeks and others at 41. the system meets you exactly where you are.
is this only for first-time moms?
not at all. wavework supports anyone preparing for birth. whether it’s your first baby or your fifth, this training deepens embodiment, awareness, and confidence.
can i use this if i’m planning a hospital birth or epidural?
yes. wavework isn’t about a single “type” of birth... it’s about helping your body regulate, soften, and respond intuitively in any setting. even with an epidural, you’ll still move through labor and pushing.
what if i’m planning a VBAC?
wavework is a powerful VBAC tool. it helps release fear from past birth experiences, rebuild trust in your body, and prepare you to meet labor with confidence.
how is this different from other birth classes?
most classes give you information. wavework gives you integration. it’s the only method designed to simulate birth in real time through movement, breath, nervous system conditioning, and full-body rehearsal. not just what you know, but what your body remembers.
what’s the time commitment?
the practices are self-paced and designed to fit busy lives. even 10–20 minutes a few times a week makes a difference. the simulation module lets you rehearse labor in a condensed, powerful way.
how long do i have access?
you’ll have lifetime access to all modules, downloads, bonuses, and community spaces. revisit the practices anytime, even postpartum. all sales are final due to the downloadable nature of the content.
can my partner do this with me?
absolutely. wavework includes practices designed for partners to integrate helping them learn how to regulate with you, mirror your rhythm, and hold the field of support during labor.
can i use this postpartum?
yes. wavework is a resource beyond birth. many women return to the practices to support pelvic floor recovery, nervous system regulation, and integration after labor.
is this for birthworkers + practitioners too?
yes. doulas, midwives, and practitioners use wavework as a professional resource to expand their toolkit. it provides language, practices, and frameworks for guiding clients into deeper nervous system preparation and embodied trust.
